Lightning Bolt

I remember the first time I ever experienced the marvel that is Lightning Bolt in a live setting; it was at Camber Sands for the Tortoise/Shellac/Mogwai curated ATP and it changed my life forever. I was stood waiting like everyone else staring at the stage about halfway back. I watched my friend fall asleep under a mountain of discarded cans when a man in a mask put a huge amp down next to me. I got absolutely twatted by the mosh pit which unfolded around me, people jumping off the drums onto the wave above the crowds. I watched my mate fall in slow motion as he dropped his phone into the abyss of sweaty feet and plastic cups. It was glorious.

Since then I’ve delved in and out of their work but after hearing their latest track ‘King Candy’ I think now is the perfect time to clock back into the Lightning Bolt smelting factory and forge my self a new iron clad arse hole. It explodes into action (the song not my new arse hole) as the glorious distortion rises from the firey flames and takes a huge runny shit on your chest. Distorted vocals, fast heavy drumming, raging bass sludge, its all one huge cacophony of noise sent from the depths of a crowd to burst your fucking eardrums. Check it. Like it.
