I fuckin love Hooded Menace man. They pure pure take this whole slow metal thing with yer typical death and doom ingredients and churn out this sexually-charged one-mile-per-hour grinding metal backdrop for singer or creature 'Lasse' to summon what sounds like a troll; a big one from that film Troll Hunter, to sing in a fjord to get that reverb effect. Pure singing like fuck when he's no cutting about the woods eating Christians or being chased by Troll Hunter.

Something that stood out about this album was the fact the songs get greater as it goes on. The riffs become more insane.  And it gets faster. 

The band are death-doom Mozarts on all their respective instruments and deliver like Santa all over your maw's face on Xmas eve. 'Curses scribed in gore' is a danceable satanic monster fucking mash of a tune, skull fucking your enemy's decapitated skull on the dance floor after you have transformed into a werewolf. 'Evoken Vulgarity' is faster in tempo than the majority of the tracks so when it hits you.... AAARGH... When it hits you, it's like Jimmy Saville's dead zombie body pushing his cigar up your bum.

Such is its magnificence, 'Effigies of Evil' manages to ramp up the putrefaction and improve on their last album 'Never Cross The Dead', which was a belter itself.
