In these times, it’s not difficult to figure out why Divorce feels the need to make such a fucked, psychotic, angry racket. You don’t know? How long you got?

Their first album proper, 'Divorce' is a phosphorous wall of white light fuck, burning any listener's mind with shredder guitars that detest riffs, drums that eat drum machines and bass/vocals that sound like a coked-up honey badger singing Teenage Jesus and the Jerks on the karaoke.

They often come across as a more well-produced band from the No Wave scene, though the album at times has nods to drone and metal. As well as having a cool as fuck name, sounding cool and judging by their press kit, looking cool, the fucking album tracks all have cool names too. There's 'Aids of Space' (Being hit by a black cab while listening to MDC),'Cunts in a Circle' (Angry loud noises, scary drone music), 'Bill Murray' (a bassriffic cocktease of a tune where the drums begin to get animated), and 'Stabby (Stabby) Stab' (cuckoo guitars over the album's best drum loops, contains sexual as fuck horns…). Even my made up band from the early 90s, SKULL FUCK, never had titles that good. They also make a brilliant noise when they all play at once. Want to annoy Mum and Dad? Buy fuck oot this album and play it really loud while they are watching Pointless.

The dynamic of this album is the reverse of many you'll hear, starting with droning noise and steadily gathering form. As it  continues we are treated to more structured songs which build on a razor-sharp rhythm section and feature the best guitars I’ve heard recently: alien and played completely differently from everything else out there: riffless fuckers, just klings and klongs . As vocals go I’ve no idea what she’s singing but she is winning. Divorce don’t sound like they are from their city. Fucking top marks for that as the majority of bands from Glasgow are pure snide rides. Glasgow city of music? Glasgow shitty muzik. Just kidding, LOL. Nah, I’m not. 2012 seems like the year that keeps on giving. Divorce grabbed me by my haw maws and still haven’t let go. Hopefully they never will!
