Official music video for Take Me Home by A Dark Horse.
Darren Bibby: Quite clever to use Eire football nostalgia (that was) in time for Euros. It's got a catchy Americana thing going on , but it is also tainted with an air of the current crop of waistcoat folk at the 'climax'. A nice enough tune somewhat marred. 2.5 beards
Lizzie Banoffee: Sadly it's a really non-descript song. I've listened to it a few times and every time I get to the end, I can't remember anything about it. Writing while listening, that accordion (is it an accordion? the cliched folk sounding instrument anyway) is really annoying. If this song was a colour, it would be beige. 2 Beards.
Sam Green: Simple acoustic folk structures can sometimes sound really shit and boring, this is somewhat more engaging than most of the current beige folk, tweed wearing, Mumford carbon copies currently flooding the scene. I find it inoffensive to listen to but its not something that I would play on repeat, If it came up on a random playlist I would leave it playing. Which is neither good nor bad I guess? 3 Beards.
Oliver Perrott-Webb: It sounds like the sad Americana track played at the end of an episode of "House". Not that this is always a bad thing; Motopony and Daughter made it onto "House". To me, it sounds like inoffensive James Yorkston with the whole Celtic feel. But it's got a few too many cliches both lyrically and musically for me to really like it. I'll probably listen to some of their other stuff if I get the chance, but it wont be top of my list. 2.5 Beards.
