Vultures At Arms Reach

Despite forming 18 months ago with the intention of energetically battering through Misfits covers, Vultures At Arms Reach decided to channel the spirit of Iommi rather than that of Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, with ensuing band practices providing  unsurprisingly intense results.

On its release last year, ‘+​)​)​)​(​(​(​)​)​)​(​(​(​)​)​)​(​(​(​)​)​)​-’ presented itself as a most welcome addendum to the annual plethora of sludge releases.  The unusual title which I can only assume is pronounced, ‘Get Me Another Beer Because This Is Fucking Awesome’ immediately gained attention from far-reaching corners of the globe including the Wallace’s Spahn Ranch; it was destined to be a winner with regular platitudes such as ‘Fucking turn that off it’s giving me a headache’ and ‘I can’t hear Hollyoaks you dick' courtesy of Mrs Wallace.

As the rumbling climax of ‘Blood’ fades out of the speakers, you can’t help but feel that you’ve somehow happened upon a lost Neurosis recording from late 1994; a churning hate-filled dirge that has you reaching for the rewind button. It really is a veritable tea-time treat.

With Mrs Wallace's patience waning, their sophomore release, ‘дикари’, (Russian for ‘Here, This Is Even Better’) continues to deliver a deluge of extreme wife-baiting slime, whilst leaning heavily on the atmospherics; the grimy sludge is given a bit of post-metal shine as Travis Howe hollers and roars over the primal melee. Sounds good, eh?
