Dreamy, fuzzed-out bliss rawk and growl is a wondrous thing and Bare Pale are master conjurers of it if their bandcamp page is anything to go by. 'Think of you' floats in and hooks you immediately with lo-fi production and reverb-washed instrumentation. Though it shares the same divine grungey sonic glide, 'Can't Won't' is a more upbeat trog of a song. 'As Always' is a J.Mascis-possessed stomper with ear-fucking drums, while 'Mexican Wave' is a charming slow-dry shagger hi-gain droning sonnet. All these tracks are a burst of cleansing rain, enveloping you in a majestic gloomy vibe.
Bare Pale have some truly sweet tunes on here and might be the best unsigned band I've heard this year. I really hope the band keep going as this shit is legit and tight. A welcome, awe-inspiring change from the morass stuff I hear from mince bands who should give it up and get a job in Costa Coffee, I'd like to see these guys sticking at it. If they don't I'll hunt them down and skull fuck them.
